Finish Line Rowing Scholarships

Finish Line is committed to the growth and development of the sport of rowing.

As part of our commitment, we are offering TWO $1,000 scholarships each year.

One to a deserving male athlete and one to a deserving female athlete to be applied to academics, rowing program dues or training programs [ie. US Junior National Team or US National Team].

Application and all documentation must be submit between
August 1 and November 1.
Scholarship will be awarded no later than January 7th.

The 2018 Finish Line Rowing Scholarship is closed.

The 2019 Scholarship will open again August 1, 2019.

Eligibility and criteria:

  • Active rower enrolled in high school, college [non-scholarship athletes], or rower who is actively involved in high-performance training.
  • Minimum of 3.6 GPA [high school/college student]

  • Passion for Rowing
  • Community Involvement and Leadership skills
  • Coaches Recommendation
  • Personal Plea


  • Evaluation of candidates will happen between November 1 and December 31.
  • All candidates will be evaluated by Alex, Dan, and CJ on the Finish Line staff.
  • If further information is needed, Finish Line will be in touch.
  • Please do not call or email to ask about your status.  If you inquire about your status between November 1 and December 31, your application is subject to being disqualified.
  • Winners will be picked using considerations listed above, evaluation of personal plea, and at the discretion of the Finish Line Rowing staff.

Distribution of Scholarship:

  • Winners of scholarships will be notified no later than January 7th of each year and winnings will be distributed by January 31st.
  • Finish Line will issue check directly to winner to be applied to academics, rowing program dues or training programs [ie. US Junior National Team or US National Team].
  • Winners must provide documentation of how scholarship money is being spent to CJ Bown of Finish Line Rowing. [receipts or something similar].  Lack of documentation can result in revoking of scholarship.
  • Part of the winning of the scholarship terms requires winners to submit one article or blog sharing how the scholarship money has been used AND one picture of winning athlete rowing.  These will be shared on and any appropriate social media sites.

Important notes:

  • This is a one time award. As much as we would love to give it to you every year, once you have won this scholarship, you are no longer eligible.
  • Applications submit outside the August 1 to November 1 window, will not be considered.
  • This award is specifically intended for use towards academic advancement [schooling, books, etc.] or rowing advancement [dues, training trips, etc].  Use of scholarship money in ways not specified is subject to being revoked.
  • Residents of the United States only.
